Commission
Conceptual drawings and video for fundraising of new campus building: Religious Life Center. 26,600 sf facility to host Southern Methodist University's multiple Student Ministries. Two worship spaces, a resource center, a café, a commons area, and an outdoor terraced seating area are shared by the student community. The outdoor terrace leads down to the large fenestration of the south wall. Passive solar heating of lower floor creates a thermal mass to radiate heat indoors and reduce heating load in winter. The overhanging roof provides shade in summer to reduce cooling load. The offices and worship spaces are all on the north side to provide excellent daylighting with no additional heat load. |
